Does solar make sense here? Yup.

Solar technology is improving, we get more sun than one would think, and government subsidies allow pay back over relatively short periods. So, yes, it really does make sense.

There are different ways of making use of sun power. Solar hot water heaters use heat directly from that huge fusion reactor in the sky.

These systems store water heated during the day in a tank for use when needed. During long cloudy periods, which might happen from time to time here, they have back-up electric heating elements that kicks in.

A less likely use of solar water heaters...
