Council: Don't chop down those large heritage trees

Edmonds City Councilmembers on Tuesday voted 6-1 to approve a six-month ordinance that prohibits the removal of large trees on private property.

The ordinance is in place while the City works on updating its tree regulations.

Now banned is the removal of trees 24 inches in diameter, unless the trees are deemed hazardous.

Councilmember Diane Buckshnis was the lone opposing vote.
