Retailers ask for compromise on Walkable Main Street

Instead of weekends, how about just Sundays?

HouseWares owner Robert Boehlke isn't saying Walkable Main Street should not return for a second year.

He's simply seeking a compromise that works for all businesses.

"We need this wonderful mix that we have now," he said Saturday, joining a group of retailers around the fountain holding SOS – "Save Our Saturdays" – signs.

"And since Saturday is such an important shopping day for retail, we ask that we can have that day and give Sundays to restaurants and Walkable Main Street."

You get Sunday and Sat evening after 5 or 6 p.m. period. Now drop it. Just give up as it is not going to go that way. The retailers need that Saturday...you can eat and drink all night Saturday night and all day Sunday...and run or stumble all over the open streets then. Please.
