Former appointee explains why he thinks he was rejected as police chief

Four months ago, everything changed for Sauk-Suiattle Police Chief Sherman Pruitt in a most public way after he applied for the Edmonds police chief job.
During a community Zoom meeting in November, when engaged citizens heard from Pruitt for the first time, hackers broke into the feed with racist and pornographic images.
A month later, shortly after this incident played out, Mayor Mike Nelson handed Pruitt the job, and public opinion quickly formed.
While some supported Nelson's choice, opposing forces eventually drowned them out.
