From 2020: Walkable Main Street in Edmonds.

Tracy Felix, who owns ARTspot on the 400 block of Main Street, said she's excited about the possible return of Walkable Main Street this year.

In terms of climate change and promoting healthy living, the opportunity to walk calmly through downtown is always welcome to this new resident. For those concerned about parking, how about alternate transportation ideas, like a modest shuttle (like during the winter holidays), or a parking [compromise] allowed on one side of the street only, and alternating on each weekend. I also represent the perspective that it is ok to look like a quaint European village. But a parking garage-not on your life! Sorry, Mr. McMurray, the phrase 'attractive garage'is and always has been, an oxymoron.

Btw. University Village is set up completely different and is an outside mall..not a city. And it has lots of parking scattered around the whole area. Sorry. As long as Edmonds keeps 5th South of the fountain open to traffic going up and out of Bowl to Edmonds way...I will be fine. We need an escape route for one, in case of a fire or riot. Plus I need Chase Bank. That's essential. So, we must be able to drive from 99 to the fountain on 5th and turn L, South. So not walk in the middle of the street until you hit 5th. Then walk n..open it all up.

Robert Sears writes:

A push poll is a survey or poll that isn't designed to collect data but rather to influence or sell something. It is most common amongst political campaigns and is widely viewed as a political trick and disingenuous practice. Here’s a good example of one: 1. Last year Walkable Main Street was offered on Saturdays and Sundays from the weekend of June 20-21 through the weekend of October 10-11.  Please select your preference from the following possible timeframes for 2021:
•Same period as last year •Start earlier •End earlier This “survey” suggests that a Walkable Main Street going to continue. Period. This survey is basically a “push poll”.

Debra Arthur writes:

People will not be coming to the Bowl from everywhere. Why..its too expensive for most...and many feel intimidated as it is. Also parking situation will turn off surrounding towns. So we need to make this a city all of it a city for everyone.. here we need to expand up the hill and build those businesses. Give us a nice park...put the corn hole, chess players etc there. Brings people from the Bowl up too. Sends people to the Bowl automatically...as in let's go see what more Edmonds has. I suggested a park here in 5 corners...I read 3 days later.. let's do a park in the Bowl...stop trying to take it all. It's annoying...and it will cause problems unless you learn how to share.
