The Edmonds Sister City Commission and its newly elected officers, Michele Fellows (co-chair), Greg Lange (co-chair), and Laura Otto (secretary), are finding new ways to connect with sister city Hekinan, Japan.

The longstanding tradition of annual student exchanges is on hold with the coronavirus pandemic, so the commissioners are getting creative. Having traveled to Hekinan, both Fellows and Lange say they hold a special place in their hearts for the sights, sounds, and people of Japan.

They hope to utilize social media to share their love of Hekinan and her people with Edmonds while also offering insights on Edmonds to the Hekinan residents.

"The two towns have been sister cities for 32 years," said Fellows. "Even though Edmonds students are unable to visit again this year, we are dedicated to fostering this friendship through 2021 and into the future."
