Sound off: City wants feedback on next police chief

The city of Edmonds is seeking public comment as part of its recruitment process for the next police chief.

In a news release, the city said it would like input from the community regarding “the desired characteristics and qualifications” for the position.

After former Police Chief Al Compaan retired at the end of 2019, Mayor Mike Nelson held a search that narrowed to Acting Police Chief Jim Lawless and Sauk Suiattle Police Chief Sherman Pruitt.

Although Pruitt was offered the job, Nelson later rescinded it.
