Police: Drivers, please come to a complete stop

The results of the Edmonds Police Department's two-week pedestrian-safety emphasis are in: From Jan. 24 to Feb. 7, officers issued 155 citations and 133 warnings.

According to Sgt. Josh McClure, the emphasis centered on education and enforcement in a five-block radius of Fifth Avenue and Main Street, a known area of residents' concerns and where police investigated vehicle vs. pedestrian collisions in 2020.

In 2020, Edmonds police investigated 18 incidents involving vehicles and pedestrians/bicyclists. Fourteen of those came in the first four months of the year.
