When Mayor Mike Nelson asked three local police chiefs and the Edmonds Police Chief Association president to weigh in with comments on the "strengths" and "challenges" of candidate Sherman Pruitt for the police chief job chief, two comments on "strengths" suggested Pruitt would do a good job as chief.

However, all "challenges" recorded pointed to Pruitt's lack of experience for the top law enforcement position in the city.

When asked for thoughts on Edmonds' Acting Police Chief Jim Lawless, there was praise for his institutional knowledge and capability to step up to the job. There were no...
