Lisa Gates of Edmonds received her first COVID-19 vaccine shot Jan. 3 at the Everett Clinic in Arlington. She works at Northpoint, a recovery center in Edmonds where she is a registered nurse. Many others on staff also were vaccinated.
"Everyone should get vaccinated when it's their turn," she said.
"We need to get protected as much as possible, for ourselves and others. It's no worse than the flu vaccine, yet it will save many more lives than are affected by the annual flu. There's nothing wrong with 24-48 possible hours of discomfort compared to saving your life, or thousands of dollars worth of medical bills.
"Think of all the nurses and doctors and others sacrificing and working their (butts) off to keep everyone alive. It's a no-brainer."
