In our Freewheelin' explorations we find a way to walk out into the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Yep! You might remember that the Salish Sea dumps water into the Pacific Ocean via this Strait.
The place we found is a bird-watching, cloud-watching, water-watching paradise with a lighthouse at the end. It's called The Dungeness Spit in the Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge. The Spit is the longest natural sand spit in the U.S., and is growing in length about 15 feet per year.
