No property tax increase; EMS levy rises by 1%
Edmonds homeowners will not see their property taxes increased in 2021 as City Council members voted to keep the 2021 city's property tax levy at the same level as 2020.
Councilmember Adrienne Fraley-Monillas, who called the increase "regressive," was the only dissenting vote.
Instead, city will "bank" the 1% increase to possibly use in the future. The current banked capacity is $276,716, according to Interim Finance Director Dave Turley. Property taxes make up about 35% of the city's general fund.
