Edmonds United Methodist Church’s Children’s Center will close for two weeks after a positive COVID-19 test.

“We received word today (Nov. 12) that a parent of a Children's Center student tested positive this week for COVID-19 and, unfortunately, brought their child to the Center on Tuesday, Nov. 10,” said pastor Ann Jacob.

“The child is symptom-free at the moment and will be tested on Nov. 18. After conversations with the CDC and the Snohomish Health Childcare District and Licensing department, out of an abundance of caution, our Children's Center will be closed for 14 days for quarantine.”

The quarantine starts from the date the child attended the program.

Starting Friday, Nov. 13, the Children’s Center will be closed. If none of the teachers and students show symptoms during the quarantine, the Children’s Center will reopen Tuesday, Nov. 24.

In addition, said Jacob, out of an abundance of caution, most of the church staff will work remotely for the next two weeks.

“Our pastors and leaders are working with our partners at the Edmonds Food Bank to ensure appropriate contact tracing and deep cleaning,” Jacob said.

“Based on the information we have, the Edmonds Food Bank is able to operate within the current COVID guidelines and the food bank will be checking with the health department to assess additional health safety measures that are needed. At the moment, the food bank will continue to serve the community.

“During this pandemic, our priority is to make sure that we are keeping our community healthy and safe while providing essential services. We are praying for a speedy recovery for all those affected by COVID, including one of our parents, and we hope our teachers and students remain healthy during the quarantine.
