As Beacon Publisher Paul Archipley explained on page 1, the Beacon is going back to weekly publication beginning with this issue.

We're excited to bring the news to you in print every week. It seems like a long time since the Beacon switched to twice-a-month publication in April. With so many businesses shutting down due to the coronavirus pandemic, advertising revenue had taken a big hit, and there were fewer places to distribute our newspapers.

Things aren't back to normal yet. Far from it.

But as Archipley explained last month, the good news is we're launching a new business plan that will sustain us now and into the future.

We're moving ahead with a plan to introduce a digital first, subscription model that will enable us to provide weekly publication of our newspaper for readers who still enjoy receiving their news traditionally.

But we'll continue to upload stories daily on our website for readers who are becoming more comfortable getting their news on their smartphones, iPads, laptops, and other electronic devices.

There's more information to come.

But, for now, we hope you'll join us on our mission to provide you the news that you can use. We go beyond simply transcribing government goings-on by providing perspective and insight to help you make sense of what's happening in your city, your Edmonds.

We don't report on every minutia coming from the city, the schools, the police. We figure there are other avenues for that information, many available by following your interests through social media.

There's a lot of information out there, much of it verified, much of it not, especially on social media.

With all that information bombarding you, we want to continue to be the source of verified information that you value.

With that in mind, we hope you'll provide feedback through a form on the back page of this issue. You can also go online to http://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GQ696Ql.
