Police issue new order on driving while license suspended
Mayor says offenses have disproportionally affects minorities

Edmonds police will no longer file criminal cases for the sole offense of third-degree driving with a suspended license.
Typically, this offense results from a driver failing to pay the ticket or appear in court for a prior moving violation, like speeding or rolling through a stop sign.
Instead, Edmonds officers will cite and release the offender with the civil infraction of no valid operator's license with identification – if the offender has a valid form of identification as outlined in RCW 46.20.015.
