We who love Halloween are very disappointed that we cannot have our fantastic festival this year as usual, with our great disc jockey, our flash mob dancing to "Thriller," and everyone, especially the adults, all decked out in their finest Halloween costumes.

I read that Rick Steves never misses it; neither do I and many of you.

Once you've been to Halloween in Edmonds, you'll never miss it again, unless there are circumstances out of our control; well, that is exactly what we have this Halloween!

How can we make the best of it? Wander Edmonds and look at all the scarecrows and decorations neighbors have put in their yards. I especially love the dinosaur skeleton on Second Avenue North between Edmonds and Caspers streets.

My friends and I had decided to wander into town, as we would in the old days, and maybe have a hot toddy in one of the makeshift outdoor seating areas that the city and restaurant owners have so graciously put together for our comfort and safety.

Oh, it won't be the same, but it will still be fun. I'll be the cat; I wish I knew what Rick Steve's is going as, I would love to say Hi and happy Halloween!
