From the sink to the Sound | Greener Edmonds

There are two systems that move water from our neighborhoods and businesses to Puget Sound. Storm drains and sewers do this, but in different ways.

Sewer water gets treated along its path. The Edmonds treatment plant is located near the waterfront along Dayton Street.

Treated water from it enters the Sound through two 3-foot pipes about 800 feet from the shore. One ends in front of the fishing pier and the other splits off and ends north of that, closer to the ferry terminal.

Solids that are produced from the plant are incinerated and the leftover ash is hauled to a landfill.
