UPDATE: An Edmonds icon tagged – and quickly repaired

John Hurley, 92, adds some fresh paint to his orca. In the photo is a handwritten note he has in front of his small painted rocks. It reads, "25 years," with the 25 crossed out and 26 added.
Updated with information and photo from Nancy Hurley-Madison, the daughter of the orca sculpture's creator, John Hurley:
"My brother-in-law just sent me a photo yesterday (Aug. 14) of my Dad and his whale. He also told us that the City called John and let him know it had been tagged. They also they went about repairing it where it had rotted out in places.
"They did a great job, I am told. I am grateful they took the time to care for the whale."
Hurley-Madison said that, ever the artist, John (at 92, 93 in October) has touched up with orca with new paint.
