Mayor Nelson, City Council members, and others:

I am writing you once again to help keep you informed about current downtown retail responses to the Walkable Main Street project and the difficulty it continues to cause for so many of us.

I have been privy to the voices of many retailers who do not want to speak up against the project for fear of repercussions from their fellow merchants, a group once cohesive but now divided into Main Street restaurant supporters and supporters of all downtown retail.

Thanks to the current lockdown, ALL retail has been on life support the last four months,...

While I agree communication is key and tweaks might be necessary, I find it interesting that this piece comes from Sound Styles. Fifth, the location of Sound Styles’ closest parking, is closed from early morning until at least 2 pm every Saturday during the summer for the market. Does the pedestrian only market and street closure decrease foot traffic to the store as well? Or just the Walkable event?
