The owner of Waterfront Café is opening a new coffee shop in Westgate.

A new café is taking shape on the ground floor of the Village at Westgate apartments.

Jaiiya Cafe is expected to open its doors in August, serving locally roasted coffee and espresso drinks, cold-pressed juices, açai bowls, and counter service breakfast and lunch fare.

The café is owned by Chee Wong and his wife, Sherlyn, who also own Waterfront Coffee Co. on Main Street near the ferry.

Using all locally farmed and sourced ingredients, Jaiiya Café's cold-pressed juices will be made on demand and can be modified to customers' specific tastes, said manager Grace Jeffress.

"All juices will be served in eco-friendly reusable glass bottles which can be returned for a discount off your next purchase," she said. "Açai bowls will be 100% vegan friendly, made with premium grade organic açai and topped with local fruit and granola."

The health-minded food menu will feature dishes such as avocado toast, Turkish eggs, and chicken matcha salads. In addition to traditional Italian-style espresso drinks, a rotating selection of the single-origin coffees will be served pour-over-style alongside international specials such as Dalgona coffees.

Freshly baked local pastries, including vegan and gluten-free options, will be available daily.

Jaiiya Cafe will be open for dine-in or takeout.

"The menu will be ever-changing, so customers can always keep an eye out for new offerings," said Jeffress. "Family- and dog-friendly, Jaiiya Cafe will have a little something for everyone."
