Citizen of the Year contest is back

Last updated 7/16/2020 at 12:15pm

The Edmonds Kiwanis Club’s annual Citizen of the Year recognition, originally scheduled for May due to the coronavirus, now has new dates.

Nominations are due Oct. 1, with the recipient to be honored Oct. 29. Nomination forms will be published in the Beacon beginning in July.

The Edmonds Kiwanis Club teams with the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce and the Edmonds Beacon to recognize recipients.

Now in its 27th year, the intent of the award is to honor an individual or group whose service to the Edmonds’ community warrants appreciation and gratitude.

Among previous winners are Rick Steves, Peggy Pritchard Olson, Dorothy Gross, the Edmonds Petanque Club, Edmonds Floretum Garden Club, Francine Cohen, Bill Brayer, Laura Spehar, and Mary Van Meter.

The process begins with you, the citizens, to bring attention to worthy candidates.

You can do it simply by filling out the nomination form in the latest issue of the Edmonds Beacon, pick one up at the Edmonds Chamber office, or go online to http://www.edmondswa.com.

Submit your nomination forms to Edmonds Kiwanis, P.O. Box 221, Edmonds WA 98020.
