Editor's note: The Edmonds Beacon is working with Kemmerly Chipongian, a senior at Edmonds-Woodway, and one of school's ASB members, to recognize the Class of 2020.
The ASB has created ewhs2020_futures on its Instagram page. In addition to our website, the Beacon will also post student profiles on its edmondsbeacon Instagram page, as well as on Facebook.
Hi! My name is Vania Liu, and I am a senior at Edmonds-Woodway High School. I'm still deciding between going to UW and SPU, where I plan to major in biology in order to pursue a career in optometry.
Even though there's a lot of uncertainty about the first quarter of college, I'm excited for the challenge and the beginning of a new chapter in my life. Initially, I was disappointed about school being canceled, but I've been making the most of the time by keeping in touch with friends, cherishing time with my family, and pursuing my passions of art and music.
One benefit of school being online is that I am able to work and learn at my own pace. Like many of my class of 2020 schoolmates, I'm greatly saddened that the last semester of senior year has been canceled. I was looking forward to my fourth and final season of varsity tennis, prom, and graduation, as well as other high school traditions.
However, as part of ASB, we are working hard to celebrate the end of our senior year in new, exciting ways. Even though my senior year was cut short, I'm grateful for the time I was able to spend with my classmates and for the amazing teachers and staff at EWHS for an amazing high school experience that I will never forget.
