Junior standout leads Meadowdale past Stanwood | Girls basketball

Jaiteh uses size, speed to overpower Spartans

Meadowdale needed someone to step up.

The Mavericks took a 12-point lead early in the third quarter against Stanwood but quickly saw their advantage cut to 8.

Junior Fatoumata Jaiteh answered the call in a big way.

The 6-foot center used her size and strength to score three unanswered baskets and the Mavericks went on to defeat the Spartans 52-38 in a Wesco 3A girls basketball game Friday, Jan. 17, at Meadowdale High School.
