Barre3, a boutique fitness studio, is coming to downtown Edmonds and is offering free classes until opening.
A community-focused company comprised of more than 150 studios around the globe, barre3 will be located in the upper Old Mill Town shopping center in the space formerly occupied by Edmonds Hardware and Paint.
The barre3 class combines strength conditioning, cardio, and mindfulness.
Barre3 instructors undergo some of the most rigorous training and certification process in the industry, coupled with continuing education in new research on exercise science, modifications for injuries, and other important topics.
Richmond Beach resident and barre3 Edmonds studio owner Gina Drake first discovered barre3 after leaving a successful marketing career and becoming a new mother.
"There was a lot of change and uncertainty in my life at that time," she said. "I had been an athlete most of my life but wanted to find a more healthy and realistic approach to fitness that would challenge me in new ways while also supporting me as a new mom. What I found was not only a challenging workout, but a community."
Since finalizing her location earlier this summer, Drake has already taught more than 50 free classes throughout the community, including special pop-up events at 190 Sunset, Brigid's Bottleshop, HunniCo, Scratch Distillery, and Gravity Bar.
Barre3 Edmonds will also be partnering with another local business, Wilcox Construction, on the build-out of its studio. The space will have nearly 2,500 square-feet, including childcare, retail, changing rooms, lockers, showers, toiletries, and a community lounge space.
The studio is planning to open in early 2020.
