King’s Naomi Smith has started her senior season in record fashion.
The defending 1A state girls cross country champion has set a new meet record in every meet she’s competed in so far.
At last weekend’s King’s Invitational, Smith finished the 3-mile course in 17 minutes, 41.27 seconds, well ahead of her teammate Campbell Baker, who clocked in at 19:09.68. A week earlier at the South Whidbey Invitational, Smith won the 5k race in 17:50.15, almost two minutes ahead of the second-place finisher.
