Pilchuck Audubon Society will have a special program focused on the Edmonds Marsh for its monthly meeting 6:30 p.m. Oct. 11 at Everett Firefighter's Hall, 2411 Hewitt Ave., Everett.

Featured as the first stop on Audubon Washington's Great Washington Birding Trail – Cascade Loop, the Edmonds Marsh is one of the few urban saltwater estuaries remaining in the Puget Sound area. It's a product of years of specific conditions that have coalesced to create a high-valued habitat for birds.

At the meeting, attendees will hear from those working to conserve the area for generations to come. Also featured will be a presentation by Scott Markowitz on the community science avian monitoring effort at the marsh.

There is street parking, as well as parking in a lot adjacent to the Firefighter Hall.
