Summer Wine Walks benefit Art Walk Edmonds

Edmonds' annual summer wine walks return July 6 and August 3 from 5-8 p.m.
Edmonds Wine Walk, which has become increasingly popular since debuting five years ago, is a big part of Art Walk Edmonds’ annual fundraising activities.
Art Walk Edmonds is a nonprofit organization that allows the community, in and out of Edmonds, to come together and enjoy the arts.
Art Walk Edmonds holds art walks, a free community event that’s held every third Thursday of the month, and gathers many galleries, merchants, and neighbors together to celebrate the arts and create a local vitality.
Initially, the wine walks took place during the same time as the art walks. However, because of its growing popularity, overcrowding issues became a problem.
To fix that, the wine walks separated from the art walks.
Now, the wine walks have become a big event for the Edmonds community, selling out tickets for the past three years.
Art Walk Edmonds coordinator Rachel Dobbins said she is always trying to make the wine walks better than the last.
“We like to see people happy in the event,” she said.
This year, there will be 13 wine stop locations hosting different local wineries for each one.
It will feature a variety of red and white wines from award-winning boutique wineries.
Attendees will also be able to purchase bottles of wine from the event directly from tasting tables or at the Pop-Up Wine Shop at Coldwell Banker Bain.
Despite being centered around wine, wine walks have helped funded many of the art seen at Edmonds.
Most notable are the murals in downtown Edmonds.
Last summer, two murals were installed that were funded through proceeds from Edmonds Summer Wine Walks.
Dobbins emphasized the event as something being really great for the Edmonds community and Art Walk Edmonds.
She described how because of the community’s support in celebrating art, Edmonds has become more recognized.
“Wine walks (and Art Walk Edmonds) help promote Edmonds and the arts,” Dobbins said. “That’s what makes the city of Edmonds so great, and that’s how we became the first art district in Washington state.”
Tickets can be purchased online for $30 at ArtWalkEdmonds.com/wine-walks.
Because wine walks have become so popular, they are usually sold out. However, additional tickets will be released at 6:30 p.m. the day of the event.
If more tickets are still available, they will be sold at Coldwell Banker Bain the day of the event at 5 p.m. Participants must be 21 and show ID to attend the event.
