After five committee meetings, two public open houses, and two online surveys with over 1,800 responses, the Edmonds Gateway Sign Committee met and reviewed the information.

The Committee unanimously recommended that the post and panel sign concept by Clayton Moss of Forma, which received the strongest public support, be developed for fabrication and installation at SR 104 and Fifth Avenue South.

The 2019 budget currently includes $10,000 for the gateway sign.

Next steps include WSDOT review and approval (up to $2,000), final design specifications for the selected concept, lighting options, and fabrication. Estimated costs for final specifications from designer, WSDOT review, fabrication and lighting are approximately $20,000.

Installation and landscaping will be completed by owner.

The commission is requesting preliminary approval of an additional $10,000 to complete the sign project.

Schedule for completion depends on promptness of WSDOT review and fabrication timelines, but it is anticipated that the sign will be installed by fall.

The Gateway Sign Committee will be in attendance at the City Council meeting Tuesday, May 7, and two members will be assisting in the presentation to councilmembers.
