Brazilian ‘Choro’ tradition arrives in Edmonds

Danilo Brito, regarded as one of Brazil's leading mandolinists and keepers of the “choro” tradition, performs in a quartet 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 5, at Edmonds Center for the Arts, 410 Fourth Ave. N, Edmonds.
Choro is considered the first characteristically Brazilian genre of urban popular music. The literal translation of the word is “I cry,” but its use in naming this music is figurative and points to its emotive power.
