Skipper Carter Tollefson: 1938-2018

January 2, 2019

Born in 1938 in Colville, Washington, Skip grew up in Montana and Washington. He passed away peacefully at home on December 17 with his wife of 60 years, Barbara, by his side.

He is also survived by their three wonderful children: Lisa (Bob), Landon (Tami) and Lori (Paul); three grandchildren: Michael (Laura), Alex, and Tristan; and three great-grandchildren. He leaves behind three siblings and many nieces and nephews.

His family was a constant source of pride and happiness. He was dearly loved, and will be sorely missed and remembered forever.

Skip received his Master of Fine Arts degree from UW in 1973. Painting was one of his life-long passions. He was an eclectic artist whose work amazed and amused many. In his last decade, Skip began walking several miles a day and participated in walking half-marathons in Seattle, Idaho and Montana.

Another passion of his was gardening; he and Barb had a thriving garden, growing fruits, vegetables and beautiful flowers for all to enjoy.

Skip had a quick wit, silly and funny right to the very end. He was friendly to everyone, always smiling, and couldn’t wait to lend a helping hand to all who asked and those who didn’t.

The family wishes to thank the many friends, family and neighbors who offered their support in Skip’s last weeks.

A Celebration of Life will be held on February 2nd at 1:00 p.m. at Anthony’s Homeport in Edmonds.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Edmonds Food Bank would be appreciated.
