The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed the identity of a 24-year-old man killed in an officer-involved shooting near Filbert Road and North Damson Road in Bothell Oct. 23.
He is Nickolas M. Peters of Edmonds, who attended Meadowdale High School in Lynnwood.
Peters later died at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds.
It was about 10:15 p.m. on Oct. 23 that Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the report of a disturbance at 196th Place SW and Sixth Drive SE, according to the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team.
As one deputy arrived, a pickup truck left the area at a high rate of speed. Believing the vehicle occupant had been involved in the disturbance, the deputy unsuccessfully attempted to stop the pickup.
A pursuit ensued with high speeds and the deputy attempted the PIT maneuver multiple times. The pickup finally stopped near the intersection of North Damson Road and Filbert Road in Bothell.
Shots were fired, and Peters was struck.
A female passenger, in her 20s, was in the pickup. She was not injured and remained at the scene.
