Sibelius Violin Concerto opens Cascade season

15-year-old Yesong Sophie Lee is the featured performer at Cascade Symphony Orchestra’s first show of its new season.

Yesong Sophie Lee, first-place winner in London at the Menuhin International Junior Violin competition in 2016, will be the featured soloist when the Cascade Symphony Orchestra begins it 2018-19 season 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at Edmonds Center for the Arts, 410 Fourth Ave. N.

The orchestra, under the direction of Michael Miropolsky, will perform the Sibelius Violin Concerto.

A pre-concert lecture at 6:30 p.m. by KING-FM’s Dave Beck will preview the evening’s musical pieces. They include Austrian composer Franz von Suppé’s “Light Cavalry Overture” and Russian composer Vasily...
