King’s stays in hunt for state tourney | Boys soccer


King’s achieved its main objective at the 1A District boys soccer tournament by advancing to this week’s 1A Bi-District tournament.

The Knights beat Lynden Christian 3-0 on Wednesday, May 2, at Woolsey Stadium to clinch a Bi-District playoff berth. Christian Engmann, Roma Billing and Jace Fransen each scored a goal to lead the Knights.

King’s then lost 1-0 to Cascade Conference rival South Whidbey in the district title contest Saturday, May 5, at Sultan High School.

“It’s not the storybook ending we were hoping for,” King’s coach Matt Sporn said. “But we are moving on.”...
