Warriors split key series with Hawks, edge Spartans | Baseball

A young Edmonds-Woodway is showing some veteran poise.

The Warriors recorded a pair of one-run victories against Mountlake Terrace and Stanwood and were in a position to win a third game in Wesco 3A baseball play last week.

“I love close games,” Edmonds-Woodway coach Dan Somoza said. “They get you ready for the playoffs. It’s fun to see the competitiveness and intensity. Our guys came out on top against two good teams.”

Junior Logan Kruse allowed two runs in five innings and junior Tai Starchman struck out three in two innings of relief work to lead the Warriors to a 3-2 victor...
