You can make a difference

These are just a few of the many volunteer opportunities that exist in Snohomish County. No matter where you live, we can find something for you. Questions? Call me at 425-374-6374.

What are the benefits to volunteering?

According to the Corporation for National & Community Service, you strengthen your community and your social network when you volunteer. You make connections with the people you are helping, and you cultivate friendships with other volunteers.

You too can experience these good things by volunteering. For example:

Student Mentors

If you think education is important, here’s a chance to show it. RSVP seeks volunteers for in-school and after-school opportunities to help students. You are not required to be a teacher or tutor. Sometimes just listening to and encouraging a young student can make all the difference.

Snohomish County Department of Emergency Management

You can support those on the scene of a disaster in this job. The County needs volunteers to work in the office helping with the thousand details that accompany a major event. You are NOT on the scene in this job. There are training and outreach opportunities in this job.

Peer to Peer Counseling

A program administered by Homage Senior Services, Peer to Peer allows you to help a client, over age 60, with an issue or event in their life. You get training, are matched with someone in your area and have a chance to allow others to process and move on. You also write a report on a monthly basis and attend supplemental trainings.

Volunteer Transportation

For many older citizens of the county, getting around means using a taxi, bus or asking for a ride. If you have an appointment in Lynnwood and live in Granite Falls, getting there becomes a major event in your life. As a Transportation volunteer, you help with this situation. You help clients get to where they need to go. You choose where and when to drive. A perfect driving record is NOT a requirement. If your vehicle is insured, has working lights, horn and blinkers, we want to talk to you.
