Unforeseen construction delays, costs extend pier closure

The Edmonds Fishing Pier may be closed through mid-summer, at the earliest, due to unforeseen construction delays and costs.

City officials said there is evidence that the original structure, which was built during the 1970s, was poorly constructed, and new findings could delay the opening. It had been anticipated that the pier would reopen in late June.

If funding is not secured for the additional costs, the pier could be closed longer.
