Thomas E. and Doris Belt celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Jan. 12, 2016.

They were married Jan. 12, 1946, in Atlantic City, N.J. Tom and Doris met at a United Service Organizations dance in Atlantic City, where Doris lived.

Tom served as a first class radioman in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was on the Cor Caroli Liberty ship for three years during World War II.

After they were married, they returned to the Pacific Northwest so Tom could complete his college education at the University of Washington.
