John Michael Grosso:  1945-2017

Posted

John Michael Grosso was born on May 30, 1945 in Seattle, Washington to John Grosso Sr. and Shirley Vann Grosso. After graduating from Ingraham High School, he attended Shoreline Community College. Shortly thereafter in September of 1965, he enlisted in the Navy and served in the Vietnam War until his separation from the armed forces in 1971.

John went back to building Allied Ice Company into the largest ice manufacturer north of Sacramento with five locations. He was very active in both the Western Ice Association and the International Packaged Ice Association. In 2012, he sold the company with the intention of retiring. After ten short months, he and his wife purchased Builders Millwork Supply in South Everett, where he worked until his passing.

John managed to satisfy his love of racing cars and motorcycles by joining the SCCA and other racing associations. This took him to many parts of the United States and Canada.

John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Shirley Grosso, his brother, Danny Grosso, and his sister, Shirley Mae Aspnes. He leaves behind his wife, Sherry (Parks) Grosso, and siblings, Suzanne Young, Janie McDonald and Patty Huso.

A visitation is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21 at Solie Funeral Home, with a funeral to follow at 11 a.m. A committal service is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery. Following all services, a reception will be held at the Future of Flight Museum, Forward and Aft Cabins, later in the day.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a worthy Veterans association or Wounded Warriors.

All arrangements are entrusted to Solie Funeral Home.
