You asked for it youve got it!

A common request that I have heard over the years from Edmonds residents is for a hardware store to return to downtown Edmonds. Your wish has been granted!

Ace Hardware opened its doors for business recently and they have what you need.

You may ask yourself how I know that they have what you need. Its simple really: they have everything!

As you walk in to the store (sitting atop Old Milltown at Fifth and Dayton) you quickly forget about the antique mall and restaurant that used to fill the space.

You wonder aloud how big the space is and how much merchandise fills the shelves. Everything from nuts to bolts, paint, garden supplies, and even aisles full of auto and boating merchandise.

I know how many times Ive dreaded driving to the big-box hardware store in another city, yet alone another county, to pick up some of my household needs.

Ive even driven to the closest Ace Hardware, which is in Richmond Beach, to avoid the big-box parking lot.

Now I only have to find my way to downtown Edmonds. And the sales taxes stay in our community rather than some other unnamed city!

So in the midst of the worst of times economically, we are lucky to have local ownership of a first-class hardware store in Edmonds.

Take a moment and ask yourself if youd use your hard-earned and borrowed cash to open any type of store in Edmonds during these tough times. I know what my answer would be.

So fellow residents, you asked for it, you got it.

Now its time for all of us to put our money where our mouths have been.

Lets reward the risk-takers.

Shop local.

Shop at Ace Hardware in downtown Edmonds!
