It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend William Vance Spangler on October 16, 2023. Vance, a dedicated educator and coach, left an indelible mark on countless lives. He was born in Orting, WA on September 20, 1938, and grew up in Enumclaw with two sisters. After graduating high school, Vance attended UW and WWU, where he received his teaching certificate. He married Carolyn Hyde in 1962, and made Edmonds his hometown, where he raised a family and spent his entire teaching and coaching career. Vance is survived by Carol, his loving wife of 62 years; their four children: Jane, Lyle, Roberta and Kurt, along with 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. His sister Vivian Griggs resides in Renton. A celebration of life will be held in 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Meadowdale High Booster's Club, supporting student athletes. Rest in peace, Dad.
