Marian passed away peacefully at the age of 101 on April 12, 2023. She was born in Downing, Wisconsin, on a farm which had no electricity or running water until a few years later.
After graduation from Downing High School, Marian worked for an attorney, using her clerical and secretarial skills. She met Harry Hudak at a barn dance, and they were married in 1940.
After living for a short time in Omaha, Nebraska, they moved to California, eventually settling in Hayward. Marian worked for the Bank Of America in Berkeley as a secretary to the Vice President while Harry attended college.
After 10 years in Hayward, Harry and Marian moved to Edmonds in 1967, where the family has resided for over 55 years.
Marian attended secretarial school at Edmonds Community College and worked for various local companies, lending her expertise in secretarial and office management as well as maintaining a household and raising three children.
In addition to her secretarial career, Marian enjoyed sports, taking up bowling and tennis in her younger years, as well as square dancing with Harry. She always supported and encouraged her children's' many activities, especially Little League baseball games
Marian frequently watched or listened to SF Giants baseball and became an avid Mariners fan later in life. She even attended a game holding a sign: "88 and feeling great!"
Marian's adage was "Keep moving" and to be active to live a long life. She lived independently until the age of 99 and very much enjoyed the fresh marine air and beauty of Edmonds on her daily walks to the beach, Petosa's, Edmonds Senior Center, bank, and the post office.
Marian was well known for her cooking and baking skills, passed on at an early age from her family members, especially her baked bread and cinnamon rolls.
Relatives and friends were the lucky recipients of her homemade cookies, of which she was constantly baking. Another hobby that Marian was known for was her sewing. She made many school clothes for her own children, as well as for other members of the family.
In the late 1970s and 1980s, Marian became involved in rock and gem collecting with her friend Donna Cunningham. As a member of the Maplewood Rock and Gem Club in Edmonds, she served as president in 1984 and made many friends with mutual interests.
Marian was 101 on her last show visit.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, her parents, siblings Everett Cincoski, Willa Stack, Milford Cincoski, Clara Azevedo, and son-in-law Stephen Fry.
Marian is survived by children: Barbara Hudak-Saterlie (Jerry); Steven Hudak (Christine); and Karen Fry. Grandchildren: Heather Werven (Danny); Eric Fry (Lani); Jon Hudak; Stephanie Brown (Garrett); Andrew Hudak (Lisa Garner); and John Fry.
She leaves five great grandchildren: Dylan, Grayson, Nora, Willow, and Callie, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Marian's family would like to thank the loving caregivers at A Happy Home in Mountlake Terrace, where she spent the last two years of her life. Her move from her condominium at 99.5 years was made much easier because of their tender loving care.
A celebration of Marian's life will be held at the Edmonds Waterfront Center on August 20 at 2 p.m. Remembrances can be made to the charity of your choice.
