Joan Irma Guidi Hertrich, born on September 16, 1938, in Seattle, Washington, passed away on October 20, 2023. She grew up in the Beacon Hill neighborhood and attended Cleveland High School. Joan's quest for knowledge led her to Central Washington University, where she graduated with a teaching degree and met her husband, Roger.

Joan's passion for teaching and her deep commitment to nurturing young minds led her to a career as a school teacher in the Edmonds School District. She taught part time, as her main dedication was at home as she embraced her role as a loving mother, raising her children with unwavering devotion. Later, she returned to teaching full time, leaving a lasting impact on countless students throughout her career.

For over six decades, Joan resided in Edmonds, Washington, where she built a life full of love and cherished memories alongside her husband, Roger Hertrich. She created a loving home and raised three children: John, Lisa, and Joseph. With the arrival of her grandchildren, Lauren, Blake, Alex, Madisyn, and Andrew, and two great-grandchildren.

Joan had a heartwarming fondness for life's simple pleasures, finding joy in gardening and the pages of her favorite books. However, her true passion was her family.

She was actively involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren, as family meant everything to her. Her warmth and love were the cornerstones upon which her family built their lives.

A social butterfly with a vast circle of friends, Joan Hertrich remained engaged with her community of friends until the very end. Her days were filled with phone calls of laughter, shared stories, and cherished moments with friends who admired her devotion and love.

Joan Irma Hertrich's memory will forever shine in the hearts of her family and friends, and her legacy of love, dedication, and the importance of family will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A celebration of Joan's life will be held in the spring. Friends and family will be invited to attend and pay their respects to a remarkable woman who touched so many lives with her kindness and love.
