The Edmonds Arts Commission is pleased to present an exhibit featuring Pastels and Mixed Media artwork by Randena Walsh. The exhibit at the Edmonds Library runs now through September 15.

Library hours are Monday-Thursday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday 10 a.m.  to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 – 5 p.m.
The Edmonds Library is located at 650 Main St.

The focus for Randena Walsh’s exhibition is the natural history, primarily birds, of the Pacific Northwest.

This body of work evolved from personal observation in the field, photographs the artist has taken, and sketches of her subjects from life.

Whether working in mixed media or soft pastel, gesture and expressive use of line are key elements in her drawings and paintings.

Walsh spent many hours playing on the beach and roaming the woods while growing up in the Pacific Northwest.

She finds her greatest inspiration in the field, in the wild places. While on hikes, she sketches and paints in a small sketchbook, using these studies to create larger works in her studio.

Her membership in the Washington Native Plant Society and the Audubon Society also add to her personal experience with nature.

Walsh received a BA from Evergreen State College and has taught design at Olympic College and demonstrated drawing and painting techniques as a guest artist for arts organizations, design and painting classes.

Her work has been exhibited and won awards in regional and national juried shows for over 20 years and appears in a number of publications.

She is a member of Women Painters of Washington and the NW Pastel Society, earning the title of Distinguished Pastelist in 1995.
Walsh is represented by Roby King Galleries, Bainbridge Island, WA.
