Trinity Artists at the Organ concert series presents its annual all Bach concert on Sunday, March 7 at 7 pm. At Trinity Lutheran Church, 6215 196th St. SW, Lynnwood.

Dr. Robert Bates, professor of organ at the University of Houston will present a special performance of the complete large settings of the Clavierübung III with sung chorales, to celebrate the 325th anniversary of the great composer, Johann Sebastian Bach’s birth this month.

This monumental work, united by a great musical and theological design was Bach’s first published work for organ.

As Bach wrote, “these pieces are written for "music lovers, and particularly for connoisseurs of such work, for the recreation of the spirit."

An internationally regarded concert and recording artist noted for his fine, musically intelligent performances, Dr. Bates is particularly well suited to perform these works.

He has won prizes for organ performance in Fort Wayne, San Antonio, Detroit and Bruges, and has also been awarded the Prix d'Excellence and the Prix de Virtuosité from the class of Marie-Claire Alain.

A review of one of his performances in the American Organist stated: "Bates has a beautifully refined technique, a profound understanding of rhythm and its subtleties, and a thorough sense of style."

Trinity Lutheran Church is noted for its stunning 2 manual, 30 stop mechanical action organ built by Martin Pasi, housed in an Italianate style case of black walnut, in a fine acoustical environment.

Suggested donation of $10 at the door, seniors and students pay as able.
