Tough decision to fill vacant council seat

There’s an interesting question for Edmonds City Council members and citizens to ponder as the council prepares to fill the vacant Council Position No. 4 next week (Jan. 19). Is a candidate “better” or “more eligible” because he has run before in an election? It could signal political experience and/or interest in the happenings of the council.

Port Commissioners vote to remodel public restrooms

The Port Commission of the Port of Edmonds approved a motion to proceed with remodeling public restrooms in the Marina Operations building. The earlier plans for a freestanding building were previously cancelled for budgetary reasons.

This morning I met my cousin Carrie for “girl talk” and coffee. We had plenty to talk about, including the “Cousin Reunion” we had in the fall, welcoming the two brothers from Mesa and Anchorage to celebrate with those of us living in Washington.

Who’s railroading whom?

On Monday night January 4, I attended the first of three scheduled public hearings on the findings by a consultant concerning the impacts of additional commercial flights at Paine Field. The consultant found “no” impacts to the additional flights proposed by Allegiant Air and Horizon Air. The packed house at Meadowdale High School begged to differ.

We need economic development

Three hundred twenty-four dollars per year. That is how much more you and your household are going to have to pay by the end of this decade in additional taxes to the city of Edmonds every year just to keep the same services we have now, if nothing changes.
