Arriving in the freezing rain Saturday, March 14, more than 300 dancers didn't take long to heat up the gym at Kamiak High School. These dancers, the best of the best from northwestern Washington, were competing in the WIAA District 1 Dance and Drill Championship Tournament.

Teams had to succeed at this event to be eligible for the state dance and drill championships in Yakima later this month. The competition categories were Dance, Hip Hop, Kick, Drill, Pom, Flag, and Drill Down.
