Leslie Bernard Fitzpatrick

 Leslie Bernard Fitzpatrick was born April 12, 1924 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada to Joseph Austin and Helena Theresa Fitzpatrick.

He became an American citizen when he joined the 319th Infantry 80th Division (Patton’s Third Army), serving with honor in England and France, where he was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart.

He graduated from Washington State University and went on to enjoy a long career in radio and TV broadcasting in Spokane and Seattle as Producer, Writer and Camera Operator for King 5 and serving as director of the Stan Boreson Show for many years.

He was also an on-the-air personality in front of the camera and enjoyed interviewing famous people such as Bing Crosby.

After his career in television he ventured into the field of marketing and began Fitzpatrick Advertising.

His work could be seen in numerous television and radio commercials, newspaper adverts and various written materials. He experienced great success as the executive advertiser for MHRV and the manufactured homes and recreational vehicle shows that were held annually in the King Dome.

He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Doris, who passed in 2006. Survived by one sister Helen Gardner, brother Robert Fitzpatrick, and four children, Leslie Randolph Fitzpatrick, Maureen Maland, Joseph E. Fitzpatrick, Marianne McGuire.

He leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Leslie dearly loved his friends and family. He smiled while engaged in conversations and bright blue Irish eyes that sparkled whenever he would speak.

He was an avid reader, gardener, poker player, fisherman, attended church consistently, always had a full calendar of activities, his humorous drawings, poetry and clam chowder was appreciated by all.

He was a long time parishioner and lector at Holy Rosary Church in Edmonds, served as a teacher for speech and pioneered their speech competition for the youth of Holy Rosary.

He will be genuinely missed by many and remembered as a man of great integrity and wit.
Funeral will be held Saturday, Sept. 4, at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 630-7th Ave. N in Edmonds.
