
EVELYN JOHNSON-SOWLES
Mrs. Evelyn Iriwin Johnson-Sowles, (Eve to her friends) age 92, a long time Glen Street resident of Edmonds, WA, quietly passed away on Monday morning.
Her Rosary will be held at Beck's Funeral Home in downtown Edmonds on Tuesday August 10th, 2010 at 7:00 PM. Her Funeral Mass will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in downtown Edmonds on Wednesday August 11th at 11:00 AM. Public is invited.
Evelyn lived a varied and exciting life. She was a founding member of the National Alliance of Families for the Return of America's Missing Servicemen in 1994 of Bellevue, WA.
She appeared on KIRO News, interviewed by Mark Sauter, on behalf of our Soldiered Missing in Action and her beloved husband Sergeant Lewis W. Sowles, 2nd Infantry Division, still MIA from the Korean War.
She was loved and enjoyed by her family, especially her Sons, Bill & David; Daughters Nancy & Gloria; Grandchildren, Dhana & Ron, Bill Sowles, Jr., A.I.A., Robyn, Patricia, Diana & Patricia Jones. Her Great-grand children, Ronnie, Matthew, Ryan, Trevin, Taylor & Kaitlyn; her first Great-Great-Grandson, Trace.
Evelyn was a high-fashion designer, graduating from the California School of Fine Arts at UCB; Army Wife; Columnist for the Coronado Journal; Producer for the Coronado Play House; Fashion model for the Del Coronado Hotel; Policewoman In the Juvenal Division and Real Estate Land Developer and Apartment buildings owner.
At age 12 Eve designed the logo for her father's company National Motor Bearing, Co. of Redwood City, CA, which is still used today by the parent organization Federal Mogul Corp. Her most proud achievement was being a wonderful fantastic mother, grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
Entombment will be at Alta Mesa Cemetery in Palo Alto, CA, next to her parents, Lloyd A and Anna Johnson and her brother PFC Lloyd, Jr., killed in the Battle of the Bulge in France in 1944.
