Renee Marian (Ladner) Pollock
December 4, 1929 – May 11, 2010
Our beloved Renee passed away peacefully on May 11, 2010. Renee is survived by her sister Sue Lowell (Art), and brother Mike Ladner (Jacqui) and many, many nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
Renee was born in Glencoe, MN, and moved to Edmonds with her family in 1935.
In 1948, Renee joined the Sisters of Holy Names of Jesus and Mary religious order. After 20 years, Renee left the convent to teach Alaska Native children, and then traveled to Saudi Arabia to continue teaching.
While there, she met the love of her life, Leon Pollock. Renee and Lee settled in Arizona and were married for 15 years before Lee passed away in 1990.
Even though she travelled extensively throughout her life, she always considered Edmonds her home. In her later years, Renee was active in the Holy Rosary parish, the Algoma Garden Club, and was a docent at the Edmonds Museum.
Renee had a strong faith in the Lord, loved spending time with her family and friends, and enjoyed reading, music and movies. She was also fond of all types of animals, especially birds and dogs.
Renee was a warm and loving woman, touching the lives of her students and family through her teaching and compassion, and will be forever in our hearts. Her life will be celebrated at a Memorial Mass at Holy Rosary Church in Edmonds on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 10:30 a.m.
Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to: The Edmonds Museum at 118 5th Ave. N, Edmonds, WA 98020, or the Sisters of Holy Names of Jesus and Mary at 2911 West Fort Wright Drive, Spokane, WA 99224.
Special heartfelt thanks to Susan (Lowell) Moe and the Richmond Beach Rehabilitation Center for their loving care.
