The halls of Edmonds Center for the Arts will be alive with the sounds of music as the Sno-King Music Educators host a series of music festivals beginning Jan. 24.

Over the course of six events occurring January-March, more than 4200 middle and high school students receive instruction and critique regarding the presentation of a unified ensemble sound, intermediate and advanced concepts in vocal and instrumental technique, and most importantly, new ideas for creating a more expressive performance.

Throughout the day they utilize almost every available space within ECA as rehearsal and performance spaces, including the gymnasium, classroom and lobby spaces and the stage in the theater, as they receive feedback from outstanding local conductors and music educators.

The Jan. 24 event concludes with a performance in the 700-seat theater by the participating middle school band, orchestra, and choir students who represent their schools in the Sno-King Music Educators' Middle School Honor Festival.

The performance begins at 7:30 p.m., and is open to the public.  There is no charge to attend.

Sno-King Music Educators is the regional branch of the Washington Music Educators Association, promoting excellence in teaching, high standards of student performance, and access to music education for all Washington State K-12 students.
